Nice but rowdy which was a shame.
Service was excellent and the buffet breakfast was the best I have ever had. Congratulations to the staff and commitment. The onsite Beauty Spa was sensational.
Disliked · From Saturday afternoon until Sunday morning breakfast the place was over run by the very rowdy Ferrari Club. It was a shame as it ruined the experience. The group was loud and inconsiderate of other guests trying to relax. They used the dining areas as group meeting locations, hogging tables to chat and moving chairs from other tables etc.

Great views of marina and bay
We were offered a welcome drink on arrival and parking was just outside our room. The hotel was celebrating Christmas in July so we also had mulled wine and cheese in the foyer. The room offered a lovely balcony overlooking the bay. There were robes and all toiletries provided. There are walks along the marina and small beach and 2 pools although it was too cold to use them- not heated. The hotel is a short drive to local shops and restaurants.
Breakfast was included and provided sumptuous offerings.
All in all I enjoyed the feel of the hotel and staff were very attentive.

Unbeatable location and an excellent hotel
We stayed at The Anchorage for a few days rest at the end of a long Asian and Australian trip, and it was a great choice.
The hotel buildings and the marina are stunning, in a beautiful location not far from facilities at Nelson's Bay. Rooms are in a number of separate buildings joined by walkways. Our room was the standard Anchorage room and was excellent in almost every respect, the only minor frustration (not for the first time in a hotel) of there being zero practical drawer space. It always amazes me that the people who design hotels never quite seem to learn from errors of the past.
Dining was excellent, whether in the main restaurant (we had a to-die-for whole lamb shoulder) or in the bar, where there are a range of very generously sized plates if you don't want to entirely pig out. There are also plenty of eating options ten minutes away in town.
Breakfast was good, and being able to sit essentially outside overlooking the marina and see was great. One minor gripe: at this hotel's price point, charging extra for barista-made coffee feels a bit cheeky.
The small coffee shop on the marina (unconnected to the hotel) is also excellent and reasonably priced, and does great coffee and excellent breakfast/brunch/lunch.
Overall, this was a great hotel in a fabulous location.

Very Disappointed
I have no complaints about the venue as I am very familiar with the venue have stayed there many times before.But the review is about the service I received from with the reservation. 14 days before we checked in I sent an Email to the manager after been advised by one of the staff the same morning to send it directly to him, It was about possible cancellation of our booking, we have a situation that a family member was going into hospital for major brain surgery he is still in hospital and asked them if it was possible to cancel, at this point I will point out this was 14 days before booking and in the conditions they state no changes within the last 14 days, so I contacted them 14 days out we had no correspondence for a number of days the manager didn’t respond to any of my emails, then 5 days later I received a email from the reception staff stating they could not change and I say now this was within the 14 days, they charged my credit card 14 days out from our reservation the same day I sent the first Email to the manager. We have stayed with them a number of times in the past but this time very dissatisfied with this service, absolutely no Empathy or consideration of the situation we were possibly going to experience with our Daughter possibly going to need our support with her husband having the brain surgery. We managed to fulfil our reservation, why the management waited 5 days to response to me is totally unacceptable, But I will stress this will be the very last time we will stay at this venue and I will not give it any recommendations to friends or family. I will be posting this review on other sites.
