Great location

Wonderful location. Booked for 5 of us which was great until COVID forced my daughters back to Melbourne.
Close to beach an town. Roomy and has everything. Only one area to address is shortage of hot water. Dean is a nice guy. You see very little of him.

Winter Wonderland

Lovely bright, clean two-bedroom holiday unit. Good value. Well stocked cupboards including WD-40!
Manager Dean couldn't do enough for us. Even offering to pick us up from the bus stop (even tho we walked).
We were a "just friends" seniors tennis couple, so separate bedrooms (5 beds in all) were great. Fishpen location is perfect - Canky Cafe & ocean surf over the back, and lake & short walk to town at the front.
It was frosty at night in June, the new reverse cycle aircon didn't warm us much sitting watching TV, so Manager Dean gave us another large fan heater quick smart.
It was the first week after the 2020 lockdown, so perhaps everyone we met in Merimbula was especially friendly. For Melburnians, winter sunny days were a knock-out.

Be careful

Be careful staying here especially with kids, not really a family friendly place charged extra for one child even though there's 5 beds, chairs a flimsy one leg snapped off with a small child on it and was charged, save the hassle stay someone else with a family

Best value for money in Merimbula

Como Lodge is a small apartment block on Fishpen. All apartments are 2-bedroom, 1 bathroom, with a good size lounge/dining and kitchen. We booked over a long weekend to attend the Merimbula Jazz Festival and the town was packed and much of the accommodation is booked out months in advance. Como Lodge is quite a walk from the town, and a good 30 minute walk to the main clubs, so if you expect to park the car and walk everywhere - you need to be a keen walker. It is however, just a short walk to the water and Surf Beach. Our apartment was very comfortable; the only drawback being that in the advertising pics both bedrooms showed double beds, this was not the case and the second room had two single beds. It didn't bother us but if you're after two doubles probably best to check and request before you arrive. It does have a full oven, full size fridge, microwave etc., plus electric blankets on the beds during winter, and reverse-cycle air con. We found it very comfortable, and great value at only $100 a night during the Festival - at that time of year you'll find it difficult to get anywhere under $150 a night.
