A honest affordable hotel, we enjoyed our stay in Double Bay, we found street parking was available, the location is terrific. It’s not 5 star, so manage your expectations, the room was clean the bathroom clean and well appointed, towels were changed daily, we didn’t love the 4th floor as having to do the stairs for the last floor was a strain with luggage. However, the rooftop room with large balcony was probably worth it. Only fault was the toilet paper was low when we arrived and wasn’t replaced and there wasnt any back ups, I thought this was strange. I would stay again for the value this provides in what can be an expensive city.

Budget hotel in Double Bay. Handy for a short stay. Room provided was not the room that we booked. We were told that was our fault because we didn’t book through the hotel direct.

The Savoy Double Bay: Where Character Means Biohazard

Look, I've stayed in some dumps. Budget motels on the Hume Highway. Hostels in Bali where the shower is also the toilet. But The Savoy in Double Bay, in DOUBLE BAY, might be the filthiest room I've ever paid actual money for.
There's Coca-Cola splattered up the wall like a murder scene. Just... dried there. For months, maybe years. Other mystery stains forming a Jackson Pollock of bodily fluids and condiments. I genuinely don't know which would be worse.
The extractor fan has grown its own fur coat. Actual carpet of lint. The aircon unit sounds like someone's dying inside it and probably gave me bronchitis. When did they last service this thing, Y2K?
Bathroom's a war crime. Shower door smashed, "fixed" with a curtain that belongs in a servo toilet. Tiles held on with Blu Tac. Blu Tac. In a bathroom!
Door's smashed a hole in the wall. "Repaired" with what looks like toothpaste.
The view? Dead plants, electrical junk from 1987, and genuine rubbish. Stunning.
I slept fully clothed because the room felt that diseased. Itched all night. Couldn't shower fast enough in the morning—at home, obviously, not in that biohazard.
The location's brilliant. You're 200 meters from $8 coffees and women who lunch. Which makes this even more baffling. Someone's charging Double Bay prices for accommodation that would fail a backpacker hostel inspection.
Sleep in the park. Genuinely. You'll wake up cleaner.
Would I recommend? Only to enemies.

What a dump! In the heart of Double Bay sits an accommodation venue not fit for the homeless. Dirty, water dripping from ceiling in the room, filthy carpet, lumpy mattresses. Worth about $17 a night. Shut it down and build a McDonalds on the site!

Staff were very helpful and there were great communal facilities including microwave, toaster, also where you could make a cup of tea or coffee and potentially store food in the fridge. Bed was very comfortable and the room quiet with effective air-conditioning.
