Outstanding food and service

When I booked this hotel as a convenient stop near the highway, I wasn't aware of the history and the owner of the Posthotel. Alexander Herrmann is a celebrity chef, 2 stars Michelin, a lot on TV, and probably the current Nr. 1 in Germany. The cuisine experience during my stay was definitely worth it, even if I am not so much of a foodie. In addition, the friendliness and the service of the staff is outstanding. This is otherwise very hard to find in rural Germany. (The Hotel is close to the Bayreuth Wagner Festivities though.) The 150 year old hotel building lacks some modern sophistication, such as an aircon, but this is the particular charme of staying in such a place. Highly recommended, especially if you can get a last-minute package deal on the hotel website.

A total work of art

We visit the "Posthotel" at longer intervals and the never-ending transformation of the house is impressive. The signature of the kitchen with its absolute regionality is unique, the (with the exception of champagne) 100% Franconian wine list is bold, but conceptually consistent. You can feel the self-confidence of the team, the belief in "the cause". The visit is an overall experience, from the perfect welcome upon arrival to the perfect farewell after check-out. In between, there is a lot of emotion, but also down-to-earthness. We believe the journey is far from over. Until then, we will try to stop by as often as possible.

A piece of jewelry with small scratches

I am starting with three points of criticism, not dramatic but worth mentioning:
Room facing the street, an imposition, delivery trucks with engines running directly under the room window, the hotel can only do so much about this, addressing the suppliers, including the brewery, might possibly help. The temperature of the water in the shower changes constantly. There is no air conditioning in the rooms.
The hotel is very well-maintained, housekeeping does a great job.
The staff, regardless of their position in the hotel, is friendly and accommodating. The farewell upon departure was very personal, no classic reception blah blah, a compliment. At breakfast, it is pointed out that you can express requests beyond the menu. We took advantage of this, and the request was fulfilled.
Confusing, they place great importance on regional proximity here, but use English titles for the breakfast selection on the menu.

Wonderful

One of the best hotels I ever stayed in. It is chique without being over the top and the staff is extremely friendly, competent, helfpul and professional. The breakfast is a unique experience and everything they have (food, cushions, beds, blankets) is high quality.

Exceptionally good with a minor drawback.

A revelation in taste, at least for us as inexperienced diners in the high category of gourmet cuisine. Extremely attentive and pleasant atmosphere with highly motivated staff; the effort for this 7-course menu is enormous, as the optional paid but very informative behind-the-scenes look shows. Even the chefs came to our table. You get to know a lot of great staff, a chat is always possible, it never gets boring at the table, 4 hours of good entertainment. The only minor drawback: The bill afterwards with hidden extra costs, which, in the good atmosphere, we do not always notice right away, because one does not want to always ask about the price with the best recommendation. The staff handles this extremely skillfully.
