Good, clean hotel
Great hotel. Very friendly lady at the reception. She took the trouble to explain to us where we could eat that evening, everything written down and drawn on a piece of paper. The room was spacious and well cleaned. Free use of the wifi and shower gel.
Breakfast was super catered for.
Highly recommended and we will definitely be back.

Nice Inn Passing by at very good Award.
Quite consistent quality/Award ratio.
Welcome (in French) and friendly staff.
Decent room.
Good restaurant inside and on terrace (Italian).
Hearty breakfast (and good Award).
Parking near the Pension is very small.
We were parked along the street 10' away.
The Inn is quite old and will require a refreshment.

Drama
Booked a family room...
We were asked in advance what time we expected to arrive, so that they could take into account the cleaning schedule of all rooms. 3pm was our answer. We finally got there at 4:30 PM due to traffic jams. Received text and explanation from an extremely friendly lady at reception. But... when I walked into the room (very dated, musty and above all much too warm attic room... I immediately noticed that everything was still dirty... trash can full of food scraps... shower with dirty towels... beds not made .. the carpet had dirtier stains.. the third bed could not even be called a bed... in short, a big disappointment. The restaurant was closed. It was also not possible to sit outside.. parking was a nightmare (see other visitor's review), the room was still cleaned and cleaned. It was ready in 10 minutes (!!????) We carried our suitcases back down (no elevator) and left quickly. Never experienced anything like this before. And honestly, it may be dated, but no problem tired and dirty... no, sorry, I don't pay 150 per night for that!

Everything was great
It was our second time in Kugel. The staff was always nice and fexible, we were perfectly welcomed and enjoyed our stay. The room was clean, the inside of the hotel is beautiful and the shower was fantastic. We already recommended this hotel the first time and we gladly do it again this time, we definitely will be going back.

Very inexpensive but also very outdated
Hotel kugel is actually located on the other side of the Mosel from the old city of Trier. It took us around 15 minutes by car to get to the city centre. Since we were by car, this wasn't a problem for us. Walking will be a bit far though. Parking at the hotel is free, but there are only a couple of parking spaces designated for hotel guests.
Upon arrival we were kindly greeted by the lady at the front desk. She tried hard to help us in English and we even got an upgrade. Also, everything was well organised according to the Corona regulations.
Our room was spacious, but very outdated. The decor was very old-fashioned and things like the carpets and drapes could definitely use an update. Aside from a bed with side tables, our room contained quite a large wardrobe and a seating area with table, chair and a little bench. There also was a large TV. Our bathroom was even more so outdated. The shower head was a bit broken and the cabin was a bit moldy. The room was cleaned every day, but I did notice they missed some things. For example the previous guests had left breadrolls in a plastic bag in the windowsill and they weren't cleaned out before we arrived.
That being said, our stay at this hotel was extremely inexpensive at less than 25 euros per person, per night. This was the price for a twin room with a shared bathroom, but with the update we had a double room with private bathroom.
There isn't much to do or see in the area of the hotel. It is really a suburb of the city. Luckily there is a restaurant, with a patio, attached to the hotel. They have a very extensive menu and the staff was very kind. Our pizzas were okay and prices were reasonable.
I don't think I will be staying here again, just because of the distance to the centre and the old rooms, but if you're looking for something that won't break the bank this might work for you.
