Always happy!

After our visit with 8 people I wrote the following mail to the castle this morning (yesterday the Michelin stars were awarded): "We are pleased to announce that after 20 years you will also be able to celebrate the 20 stars. And again, a big thank you, our visit to your place was just a great little break - both for the repeat offenders and for the first-timers. Whether warm hospitality, interesting impressions again despite the weather or ... just good!"

I would skip this if Werners restaurant is not open

This is only to be considered if you have a car. It’s uphill. Looks much better in photos than in the real life.
Hotel is not located in the castle but at side building. Castle was not open to visit.
Good bed. Spacious bathroom. Room was a bit dusty due to carpet. No air-conditioning.
Werners restaurant (one star Michelin) is open from Wed to Sat. Bistro open every day. Big portions, fairly good but not worth of a detour.
Buffet breakfast is not extensive but quality was good.

Unfortunately, that doesn’t work!

We, 6 people, booked the Hotel Schloss Eberstein from May 1st to May 4th, 2024 as an arrangement. The arrangement included 3 nights with breakfast and 2 dinners (1x in the Schlossschänke and 1x in Werners Restaurant).
The arrival and check-in at the hotel went as expected for a 4-star hotel, so we were looking forward to the time ahead. We went to the terrace of the Schlossschänke, enjoyed the view and unfortunately were not served. Only after we asked were we able to order and the waitress said that she would bring us an espresso on the house. But that was not the case. No matter, because we were on vacation and wanted to have a good time. We went back to our hotel room and wanted to freshen up for the evening. Unfortunately, that was only partially possible because the entire hotel had no hot water. In addition, the flush on our toilet was broken and when you turned on the tap in the bathroom, the tap in the toilet dripped; strange. We went to the Schlossschänke in a bad mood. The 3-course evening meal was good, the staff friendly and good and we enjoyed the great weather on the terrace. The hotel breakfast was plentiful. Werner's Restaurant can only be recommended and deserves its Michelin star; food, drinks and service of a high standard - THANK YOU to the entire team. Unfortunately, sleep was out of the question on the last night as there was a wedding in the hotel and the bass of the music system was turned up so loud that we could hear it even on the 2nd floor. Unfortunately, the call to reception went nowhere, so we had to deal with it. When we checked out, we mentioned exactly the points that I wrote down here, but they didn't really address them. We were given a 5% discount, which upset us even more. Everyone can and should now form their own opinion! Conclusion: Defects in this hotel are either ignored, ignored or dismissed. In any case, we will not visit this location again.

Superb terrace, but cuisine not at all up to par and deplorable value for money

Superb terrace with a remarkable view of the valley
On the other hand, value for money is not up to par.
Cuisine and commercial practices unworthy of an establishment that aims to be gastronomic: asparagus dish with 6 units for €27, poor quality ham for €7 extra, paid bread...
Perfect for a drink, especially not for lunch or dinner…

Barbecue evening with overnight stay

In the summer, a barbecue is held every Thursday on the terrace under the plane trees. The food on offer was very tasty and there was a wide selection. We stayed here overnight and had a very nice room in the attic. The breakfast was plentiful and good.
All in all, we really enjoyed it.

You can use the Special Requests box when booking, or contact the property directly using the contact details in your confirmation. Please note much of the castle is still privately owned. Unfortunately not all facilities are accessible to the public. The Michelin-star Werners restaurant is open between 18:30 and 22:00 from Wednesdays to Sundays. On Sundays it is also open between 12:30 and 14:00. Please note that between January and March each year, the restaurant is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. Breakfast is available every morning, but no other meals are available.
