Friendly, Helpful Staff, but Inadequate Facilities, Poor WiFi
Facilities are inadequate and designed for a hostel that accommodates 1/3 the guests of homePlanet. No lounge and just the one kitchen table that seats 6 people for the entire hostel. People can ‘lounge’ at the one kitchen table for hours, so at times there is nowhere to eat meals but on your bed in your dorm. Thin walls between rooms, you can easily hear the conversation from the adjacent room. Second hand smoke reaches the kitchen from the smokers just outside the door or on the landing between floors. Need more power outlets and better distribution of power outlets for 6-bed dorm.
Dorm bed sleep just so-so. Bed comfortable but noisy car/tram traffic just outside window all day, all night, every day. You will need earplugs. Men’s restroom poorly designed: one toilet/urinal in same stall. And two showers in the same room, no privacy, only one place to hang clothes.
WiFi sucked much of the time, slow and sometimes kaput as in right in the middle of buying a train ticket. Even from the kitchen, 1-2 meters from the base station. Complete all time-sensitive online tasks before checking in to homePlanet Hostel.
Suggested improvements:
Put privacy curtains around the beds or at the very least separating the beds. because dorm beds are placed end to end and there were no hardboards or anything separating them. The tall guy’s foot in the bed next to me ended up in my bed, no fault of his own, just poor dorm design.
Add a recycling program — plastic, paper, metal and organics — and make home Planet Hostel even more sustainable.

Die Tramlinie vorm Schlafzimmer ist gewöhnungsbedürftig.

Immer wieder gerne, ist fast etwas wie heim kommen.
Ich komme gerne wieder und kann das Hostel nur wärmstens empfehlen!
