A excellent suprise find, dont be put off by the chinese restaurant as the entrance.

On a very wet busy drive at rush hour from Frankfurt Airport on our way by car back to UK. We just drove into the Town of Idstein, not knowing anything about it. This hotel looked different because of the Chinese restaurant as the entrance, not the sort of first impression one looks for.
I was shown a room (Number 1) no worn old carpets or peeling paint, but a bright room absolutely clean. Good comfortable beds with very clean sheets and duvets. Surprise in the tiny bathroom was the pristine bright finish, no mould or black spots. Good hot water. In fact I wish some chain hotels were as clean as this.
Just had to overcome the typical Chinese chairs and wall hangings but it gave the room character.
All this and breakfast for 70.00 Euros. Just could not be beaten.
We were impressed with the courtesy, welcome and ease the family showed us.
As to dinner, superb was the only description of our 3 course chinese dinner, with excellent wine. If this was my local I think we would be eating there at least once a week.
The family spoke good english and we would like to compliment them for their hospitality
As to breakfast, simple but just fine, with a couple of boiled eggs with good coffee rolls and pastry.
Our thanks to this hotel and restaurant for being there for us after such a dreadful drive from Frankfurt Airport. Our drive back to the UK next day was just fine, but we ignored the sat nav and drove back via Metz and Reims, less traffic and very easy. Not quite like the traffic ridden last drive via Koln Aachen and Brussels.
Just trying to think when we could revisit.

everything has it's price

Today we ate as a small family in the hotel restaurant, and only chose "lunch dishes".
Plus points: quiet and cozy atmosphere
friendly service (the boss?)
clean toilets, soap, towels, everything there.
Minus point: the food: small portions, too much sauce and little meat (some of it fried to a crust), ingredients not really fresh. In the kitchen next door, the chef was obviously watching a Chinese film. The latter can be tolerated with a smile.
It seems that the cheap lunch prices were recouped elsewhere. It's a shame, but after posting the review: "forget it".

Nice quality for reasonable price

I stayed at this Hotel just for 1 night, but it was nice experience: a comfortable bed, relatively silent room, nice view, good location, sufficient breakfast. I should say that they found a nice balance between the price & quality. I would be glad to return to that place again in the future!!!

Nice nice

A very good Hotel. Staff are very friendly. Room are really clean and goiong to frankfurt with train 30min.

IDSTEIN

Goedkoop is duurkoop. Het Hotel heeft een goede ligging en een goed Restaurant . Mongolisch.
Hotel is oud en vergaan. Jaren niets aan gedaan. Helaas.
Bedden oud en kamer oud badkamer nog ouder. Plankje boven de wastafel zit los etc. Geen parkeerplaats!.
