Trip to Cologne

It is a beautiful hotel with everything that goes with it, the room was very nice with a refrigerator and balcony, the staff, especially Maya, was super nice, and there is a great breakfast buffet we would love to come back

Charged twice for stay

Booked it on booking.com and paid.
However I was told to pay again the day before I left as they hadn't received payment even after I showed them that I had paid and the money was coming from booking.com.
She mentioned police and as I don't speak german and didn't want issues I relectunctly paid again looking for a refund when me nies were transferred
STILL HAVEN'T RECEIVED THE REFUND AND PROOF HAS BEEN SENT SHOWING A DOUBLE PAYMENT.
Beware
Breakfast was basic.

Central, quiet location near the main train station

This small hotel is centrally located near the main train station and the cathedral in a traffic-calmed zone. That's why we booked the "Eigelstein" for 3 nights.
Attention: This hotel is not really suitable for people with walking difficulties. There is no elevator, the reception and breakfast room are on the 1st floor and the rooms are on the 2nd floor and above.
Our room was on the 2nd floor facing the garden and had a balcony. This made it very quiet. The room was spacious with a good double bed, a wardrobe with a sideboard and two chairs with a table on the balcony.
The bathroom was big enough and had a bidet as well as a sink and toilet. You have to be fit to get into the bathtub because it's quite high.
The breakfast was good for this small hotel. There were various types of cold cuts and cheese, tomatoes and cucumbers, coffee and orange juice. A boiled egg was already on the table.
The staff were very friendly and also helped us find a parking space for our car.
For a short trip to Cologne we would book the "Eigelstein" again. It has a good price/performance ratio (we paid just over €300.00 for 3 nights including breakfast). The location to the old town, the cathedral and the Rhine is ideal and the Eigelstein street is traffic-calmed or even closed to car traffic and offers many restaurants and bistros.

Great location

Nice small hotel in a very good location and friendly staff. We opted to book with breakfast which was nice and the fresh, boiled egg was a nice touch, however with the great range of bakeries nearby these may be a better option if your trip is on a budget

Good location, clean spacious room with a bathroom

The location is good, very near to the Hauptbahnhof. Take the exit Breslauer Platz, turn to the left immediately, walk for around 5 minutes along the train station building. Then for some reason there is a street sign with the street name Marzellenstrasse to be seen. I did not see any sign with the street name Eigelstein. Turn to the right to the street Eigelstein, walk a little and there it is, near the pub Niko's Kneipe. I had a room with a balcony in the 3. floor. The weather was warm, so I had to leave the balcony door open for the night, for a light sleeper quite noisy. Trains passing by sometimes, a little traffic noise, something in regular intervals made a noise behind the wall, perhaps ventilation system. But it was ok for one night and conveniently centrally located. Breakfast time from 7.00, small breakfast room with 3 tables. I had an early appointment, so I went to have breakfast at 7.00 and was surprised about the poor breakfast choice there. About 7.30 two women arrived, talking loudly to each other and brought fresh buns and boiled eggs and laid out some more cheese and ham slices etc. Wifi speed in the room was very good. All in all a good experience for the low room price I got when booking 2 months earlier.
