Exceeded all expectations!

Genuinely the most amazing experience! Such a welcoming team from the moment you walk in to the second you’re leaving! The owners and staff make you feel at home and are so present with their guests. Has definitely set the bar high and would absolutely return in future!

The best week!!

I had an amazing week in Albania. I think this was the best hostel I ever stayed in. Robert and Erjon (the owners) and the staff are the best! They always made sure everyone felt comfortable and happy. The hostel was clean, the rooms were great and the food was delicious! The tours were soooooo fun! I really enjoyed my trip and I would definitively come back someday!

Stayed one night. Comfortable bed. Good A/C. Fully equipped kitchen. Location is also close to a lot of restaurants. Very walkable. I would suggest not paying in advance. There seems to be a little bit of confusion when it comes to Expedia collecting the money. The staff sorted it quickly for me though.

Theft, Gaslighting

Though I formerly would have recommended the place, I now disagree with their policies. For one, they do not pay those that work for them. Two men hire young and attractive volunteers from around the world and overwork them. None of them have any time to themselves. Predominantly it is only females working there with the occasional male exception. All of them routinely complain that they are overworked and left with no money to go out.
It did not help that I paid ahead for two nights back in April of 2025 and the co-owner R. took my two one thousand lek notes stacked up on to the other with a two hundred lek note on top and for some reason handed me back a one hundred lek coin which confused me but appeared to be some kind of discount. One night cost eleven hundred or eleven euros, not an amount to write home about, so two niights cost 2200. Again, with that strange coin in my hand, I left wondering what had happened. Two mornings later, I came back, to pay R., and he said, "Oh, you came to pay for two nights unpaid." "No, I came to pay for the next two nights." I had been staying there, still on their records, documents in my collection, for more than two weeks at that point. Perhaps he needed money to treat a girl that night. I had no idea. "Yeah," he continued, "three nights ago, you paid for only one night and now owe me for two." The other co-owner, or head honcho, I should say, arrived, and all began accusing me of playing games with them. I found myself quite confused and angered by their reaction. A., the head honcho, spoke very quickly and very angrily, so as to simultaneously defend his colleague. I walked out with a pounding head, wondering what was happening. I came back in. He showed me the CCTV which from that angle with bills equally stacked during payment wouldn't catch it anyway and to ease the tension as he showed me the video, I cracked a joke of how difficult it is to tell from such cameras what is actually happening. This infuriated A.. "I have no time for this. Take your money and go away." He stood and took 1100 from the register. I later sat down reviewing the CCTV with D. a favored co-worker but not old friends like R. and A. and showed me the moment in which I made the payment. But as I had thought, two stacked bils of one thousand lek still looks just like one thousand lek. I paid A. the money back but the memory that R. had stolen not once, with his very quick hands and distracting mannerisms, continued to haunt me. On that same morning I paid for the night they accused me of not paying, since what else could I do, and for the next two nights. I started to hand cash again to R. while A. and D. disputed, with their backs turned, discussing what had happened. R. grabbed my biggest bill, and gave back the smaller ones and then started handing me back small change that appeared much more than it actually was. I found myself missing an additional one thousand lek that same morning but thought it would not be in my interest to bring it all up at that time, since I found myself in disfavor with all three of them.
A. gave the silent treatment for the next three days all the while acting as if nothing had happened.
After I had found an apartment nearby, I continued to rent bicycles from them and I thought that everything had been cleared. A woman by the name of Emily had continued a friendship with me. But A. changed and each time he shook my hand, I felt a dirty weight inside those palms, as if there had been some sort of hatred brewing between us for some time. It all came to head, when I realized, that I was no longer welcome. They closed the door in my face and told Emily some lie which made our final day in which I had planned to show my artwork to her and to a friend Lily whom she had invited for the purpose of the same interest to not meet. A. took her out just as I arrived to pick her up.
A.'s negative and jealous attitude put me off greatly. I only regret losing my cool in the final moments when he told me to leave and never come back. For what sort of crime, I was NOT in the know!
However, beware backpackers, R. is quick with his hands and A. will never pay any of the staff working for him. If you are going to visit cool places, I recommend going alone or with a friend. The group experience can be fine but it quickly becomes expensive when booking tours with them. And if you are a young backpacker, I recommend working for instance in a place like Corfu which will give you housing, beautiful scenery, and, believe it or not, a paycheck!
So despite the time I spent there, I regret to inform the reader, this became an overall negative experience.
Please be reminded there are plenty of other hostels in the center just like the one I am describing that offer the same services, if not better, with bicycles that are actually maintained.
ps please be warned bunkbeds do not have guardrails. Falling out during sleep is a real danger.
