Disappointing, hospitality is something else

Disappointing stay – management and services below expectations
We stayed at the Hotel Berthelot in Bucharest from December 28 to January 4.
Booking made three months in advance through Booking for 4 adults, 2 rooms. As often happens, entering this criterion you expect that two double bedrooms will be assigned or that you will be given the opportunity to choose the type of bed. In this case, after booking, I realize that the rooms are: one double and one twin.
I immediately write to the structure through Booking (well in advance) and I am told that “if there was availability” they would try to assign us two doubles. When we arrived at the hotel, nothing changed. Result: couple stay for New Year with friends and I forced to sleep with my partner at a distance, a decidedly unpleasant situation.
At reception the only answer was: “the voucher is authentic”. No willingness to find a solution or to show attention to the customer.
Otherwise, the list of inefficiencies is unfortunately long:
• Insufficient cleaning of the rooms, with obvious and long accumulated dust.
• Completely empty minibar, electricity disconnected on arrival and presence of dust visibly dating back months.
• Cabinet unusable due to the amount of dust present.
• Disgusting, dirty and unsanitary carpet.
• Perennially cold rooms, with central heating managed from the lobby and switched off at a certain time. Despite repeated requests, the situation has never improved.
In addition, the system was very noisy during the night despite not being in operation, making rest even more difficult.
• I asked for at least one double blanket, since every day we manually joined the single beds: never arrived.
• Very low shower pressure, not very functional.
• Ridiculous, slow and impractical elevators for a structure that accommodates multiple floors.
• In the room there was a laundry bag and module, but the service is not actually available.
• Sad, repetitive and poorly cared for breakfast, well below the standard of a hotel that presents itself as a level structure.

Check in was excellent - quick and we could check in early. Breakfast had hot and cold options with plenty selection. The restaurant also had an extensive tasty offering of dishes but service took a long time for only a couple of people in there. Rooms were nice and big with tea/coffee and water. Lift was very small max 3 people and temperamental.

Beautiful and pleasant experience

Very good location, cleanliness at a good level good and honest breakfast spacious and warm rooms.

Lovely hotel, very varied breakfast. Friendly staff. Great location. Under the beds in the room had a lot of old food/rubbish, the rest of the hotel was spotless. Sadly the mattresses were rock solid so not very comfortable but good overall and especially for the price.
