Good: breakfast buffet, balcony, large and comfortable bed, fridge in room, not far from metro and bus connections. Bag drop after checkout.
Not so good: Adjacent to train tracks, so it is a bit loud. They provide an espresso machine but no pods, so you have to go down to the hotel bar to buy coffee pods at 1 euro each. No cream or sugar in the room either.
Overall, it was good value.

Hotel Roma Lisbon - Okay for overnight stays.
The Hotel Roma in the Bairro de Alvalade district of Lisbon is a simple hotel with a good transport location. The hotel has more than 270 rooms, which can lead to waiting times (and standing in line) during peak hours at the breakfast buffet when fully booked. It is only about 300 meters from the hotel to the metro station or a bus stop, from where you can easily reach the city center. Depending on traffic, it takes about ten minutes to get to the airport.
I stayed in the hotel for three nights in May 2026 and was assigned double room 317. The room is located on a side street, next to which a regional train runs regularly. Additionally, you overlook a soccer/football field that was built on a deck above the regional train and is well-frequented in the evenings. So there is some noise, which is dampened by two double windows in the room, but is still audible, especially in the evening. Tip: One should try to get a room not facing the train side.
The approximately 18 square meter double room was equipped with a double bed with good mattresses, a desk, a chair, an armchair, a luggage rack, a closet with a safe, air conditioning, and a telephone. The decor was rather functional-simple and somewhat outdated. The bathroom features a shower in the bathtub (high entry), a bidet, a sink, a mirror, a hairdryer, a toilet, as well as shampoo and soap dispensers. The bathroom was clean.
Breakfast is offered in the first basement in a canteen-like rather uninviting room. The breakfast was okay, especially the small Pata de Nata and croissants, as well as the coffee and some fresh fruit were good. Otherwise, it was rather basic standard. I was disturbed on two days by waiting times before reaching the breakfast room. The crowd resulted from various travel groups that apparently had their departure times for city tours around 9 AM.
At the reception, the staff was always friendly and helpful. The way to the nearby metro station 'Roma' was explained, and attention was drawn to nearby supermarkets. There are also some smaller restaurants in the side streets. The hotel also has two elevators, which are also significantly busy during peak times (thus again waiting times). There are also two internet stations opposite the reception, although many German web providers are restricted (e.g., web.de is not accessible).

Es freut uns zu hören, dass Sie unsere verkehrsgünstige Lage und die Anbindung an öffentliche Verkehrsmittel schätzen konnten. Die Nähe zur Metro Roma (250m) und zum Bahnhof Roma-Areeiro ermöglicht tatsächlich eine bequeme Erreichbarkeit sowohl der Innenstadt als auch des Flughafens.
Was die Lärmbelästigung in Zimmer 317 angeht, können wir Ihre Bedenken gut nachvollziehen. Obwohl der Zug zwischen 00:00 und 06:00 Uhr nicht verkehrt und der nahegelegene Fußballplatz hauptsächlich in den Abendstunden genutzt wird, verstehen wir, dass jegliche Geräuschentwicklung Ihre Ruhe beeinträchtigen kann. Für künftige Aufenthalte empfehlen wir Ihnen, bei der Buchung um ein Zimmer auf der ruhigeren Seite des Hotels zu bitten.
Bezüglich der Wartezeiten beim Frühstück möchten wir uns entschuldigen. Zu bestimmten Zeiten, insbesondere zwischen 8:30 und 9:30 Uhr, kann es tatsächlich zu erhöhtem Andrang kommen. Wir arbeiten kontinuierlich daran, den Ablauf dieses Services zu verbessern und die Wartezeiten zu minimieren. Daher öffnen wir in der Hochsaison einen zusätzlichen Raum, um unseren Gästen das Frühstück zu servieren.

Hotel Rome, kindness in the form of hotel
Hotel with great location, family environment, excellent service staff. These days I was having breakfast there and I was treated very well by Pink in the cafeteria. Very grateful whenever I go there.
Thanks also for all the service provided by Judith and her staff at the reception. Attentive to details and very patient with my clients.

Nicer than expected and close to the airport. The rooms were very spacious and the bathrooms were nice. The shower was larger than most European showers and also had a bathtub. I would stay here again. We had 2 rooms for 5 people.
