Great Choice To Stay in Te Anau

Te Anau Lodge was a great place to stay before and after our visit to Milford Sound.
The Lodge was spread out over a large plot of land in a very quiet residential area. There were a couple of stand alone homes, a passenger car, a bus and of course the former convent home which was the main lodging.
We rented the Mararoa Homestead which was a 3 bedroom but it was so nice to have all this room. It came with a full kitchen, laundry, separate dining and living rooms, and lots of unique decor items. The only drawback was having to drive to the main building for breakfast but if we had more people staying with us then breakfast would've been delivered to us!
Breakfast buffet was really good. We especially loved the Bambi sausages and potatoes from the hot section and the homemade granola was filled with so many different ingredients.
Staff here were really friendly and so helpful. One gave us a bottle of oil since we wanted to do some cooking one night in our kitchen.
While it did get chilly in the homestead there were portable heaters and two split system units to warm things up.
Grocery stores, restaurants and other local sites were within 10 minutes drive from the Lodge.
Highly recommended if you're coming to Te Anau and reasonably priced in fall.

The breakfast was beautiful. So much to choose from. Nice to have a pillow that is supportive. The room we had was excellent. Staff so helpful.

Staff was very helpful, friendly and the facility was close to the lake. The owner has done a fantastic job to remodel this previous Catholic nun property with inventive decorations

Beautiful grounds with quirky places to stay. Unique old nunnery. We stayed in the Station House which was built in 2921. It was decorated with period accessories. Wonderful breakfast materials were provided and the shower was exceptional, The laundry in the house was very welcome.
