Best location, great charm
You cannot imagine better location: two minuets form Cathedral and former market. The historic building has great charm, and the size of the bedroom was equal to an apartment! Additionally, it is spotlessly clean and the small staff very helpful and attentive,
Be aware that they are preparing all streets in the historic centre at the moment (May 2018)so the taxi cannot park in front of the hotel. I had to walk quite a long way.

BEAUTIFUL!
Can't say enough about the location and the hotel itself, old world-class charm to say the least. Beautiful, clean hotel.
What they need - better wifi and to supply more clean water - they have many empty fountains.
Views from the rooftop are amazing.

Excellent hotel
Location is perfect. Centered in the historic area it is within easy walking distance of everything. Its atmosphere takes you back in time. It is a restored nunnary complete with huge hand hewn doors & high beamed ceiling. But modern bath, good wifi signal from our room & helpful staff. We had a very comfortable king size bed & although there were shows in every plaza it was very quiet. Would recommend this hotel.

Great Hotel
This hotel could not have been in a better position, right across from the indoor market and a 2 minute stroll from the Cathedral. Set in a historic building with lots of attention to detail in the public areas. My room on the ground floor was enormous with two king size beds and lots of other chairs and furniture. The bathroom, although not that large, was well equipped and clean and there was plenty of hot water at all times. Wifi was good considering the thickness of the walls. Bit of noise in the evenings due to inconsiderate guests although not a fault of the hotel.
The hotel staff were extremely helpful and friendly and spoke good English.
Overall a great experience and I would stay here again.

Great location, needs some TLC but good choice
Amazing, perfect, location!! Across the street from the old Mercado (not much here, kinda a disappointment), 2 blocks from the Ponce museum and Casa de la Moneda/Museo de Zacatena, which has a great exhibit in the indigenous group, Huichol.
Wonderful location in the middle of everything yet quiet. A block away from the Cathedral, right next door a great spot for breakfast (hotel doesn't have a restaurant) and OXXO across the street.
Staff fine enough, just need to ask for help....from where to buy bus tickets, Cuban cigars....i relied on the Meixco Desconido issue on Zacatecas as my city guide. Hotel doesn't have maps of much in the way of city information.
Various water garrafons in the building for you to refill your bottles and given one bottle daily. Roof patio.
Rooms face a common patio, which means if your neighbors like to talk in the hallway you will hear it, but otherwise quiet. Not a lot of rooms but the rooms are high ceilinged and quite spacious with sitting area with TV, separate desk, and i have a king size bed. Quite surprised how big the rooms were.
Bathroom needs some loving. I didn't like the salon door which slams behind you. Be sure to remove the shower drain stopper else the water will spill out. Takes awhile for the hot water to come on but then comes on strong. Nice towels, basic toiletries and hair dryer,
No AC but you can ask for a fan, which is helpful.
WIFI pretty crap, my iphone and ipad never had connection though my friends didnt have a problem, though slow for them
Taxis can be called from the street and are about 15 minutes to the bus station for about $50 pesos.
The staff speak Spanish.
Lots of great museums in town (Rafael Colonel, Pedro Colonel, Modern Art, Ponce, Zacateano...). Take in the Bufa hike, where you can also learn more of Revolutionary Battle here in 1914. From the Bufa take the telefrico to the base of the Mina Edén, good guided tour of close to an hour. NOTE: the exit is from the other end of Mina...where you enter is totally different from where you will exit,
If you have transport, head to Quemada, a toltec archeological ruin from 300-1000AD about 45 minutes away and make it to the town of Jerez, lots of shopping for horse riders/rancheros, good nieves and shoe shopping, a Pueblo Magico.
Zacatecas is a very walkable town with gorgeous building.
Lots of eating options...across the street: Cantina Musical is fine, 15 minutes away is Los Dorados de Villa (if you can make a reservation), or just alongside St Augustin try Karnes de Jugo..essentially the only thing on the menu but delicious, apparently a specialty from Guadalajara.
A Must is Quince Letras a Cantina less than 10 minutes walk. has a jukebox as well as occasionally live musicians
