Fabulous break away

What a warm welcome from Hotel Olivedo. So helpful and friendly. We very much appreciated the fluffy towels when we got caught in the storm!
Breakfast was very nice and we loved the location. Room 22 had a spectacular view from our balcony and we enjoyed watching the ferries coming and going. Our room was clean and spacious.
We also enjoyed eating in the hotel restaurant.
Would highly recommend- thank you for a great holiday

The Perfect Place for a Lake Como vacation

This was our first trip to Varenna and we chose Hotel Olivedo based on reviews, location and value. And...Wow! It exceeded our expectations at all levels. It is an older boutique hotel right on the Lake. So, the rooms and furniture are older. But, we loved the charm. You could not ask for a better location...5 minutes from the train and right at the Ferry Terminal (though we were not disturbed by the crowds below at all). Our room on the third floor with balcony was perfect. Loved looking out over the lake as well as watching all the types of people below. Breakfast was great....But above everything else was the service we received from the family: Titi, Martina and Luigi...I won't go into the story...but they went above and beyond to assist us with receiving and diverting a package delivery that came in after we had left. We are so happy that we stayed in Varenna...and would choose nowhere else to stay in the future but the Hotel Olivedo. Gracie!

Great option for Varenna

Really great location. At first thought it would be noisy at night but it’s not as the day trippers are gone early evening. Hotel is old fashion in appearance but that gives it such charm. Breakfast is worth inclusion and whilst a 7-8min walk to the centre of Varenna, what a pleasant walk that is and never tiring.

Great place!

A very nice hotel to stay in Varenna. Lovely spacious vintage rooms overlooking the lake, comfortable beds, very good service, friendly staff, good breakfasts, family-like atmosphere. The hotel is localized next to the ferry terminal, very comfortable for trips to Bellagio, Menagio, or Como. We'll be coming back!

Typical hotel but expensive compared to the services offered.

A typical hotel full of charm, with excellent hospitality from the owner.
However, we did not appreciate the room located in the hotel on the 4th floor, a cramped elevator that only goes up to the 3rd. It felt like being in the attic, no view, 2 small windows that cannot be opened, one at ceiling level, the other at floor level, we had to kneel to see the lake. No shower, a bathtub without a shower screen or curtain, an old-fashioned bathroom.
Basic breakfast, nothing more, more pastries than bread (industrial).
Breakfast on the terrace but right in front of the ferry arrival, so there was a constant flow of cars, motorcycles, trucks, plus people queuing to take the boat (all day long).
On the other hand, a good location for taking the ferry.
No individual air conditioning, so we cannot turn it off at night.
And the cherry on top!!! The parking is located in a small courtyard behind the hotel. We paid €40 from Monday at 4 PM to Wednesday at 10 AM. Tourist scam!!!!
Expensive hotel compared to the services offered.
We had a 3-star hotel in Stresa, Lake Maggiore, also full of charm, with a pool, and of a quality and services far superior to this one, well located, FREE PARKING, and a very high-quality and varied buffet breakfast, in a quiet area, individual air conditioning, and above all, cheaper.
This is the first time we have paid for hotel parking.
She takes advantage of it because there is no parking around, we have no choice.
