quirky but good location near Metro

Went here in November for a short break. The pension style property is very near a metro Giuffrida which services the main train/bus station and market area. The market area is just amazing for all meat/fish/veg but surprisingly the really beautiful veg didn't really appear in the restaurants that we tried.
The del Toscano has decent size rooms some of which have a separate bathroom rather than en suite. The breakfast room is small and the food average but acceptable with superb coffee @ fresh rolls. There is a bakery on most corners that sells bread ( unlike the UK ) I couldn't stop eating Vongole
We enjoyed the weather ( 23% in November ) and made a train journey to Taormina and swam in the sea. Please note that if you want to go into the town of Taormina you must take the bus as it is perched on a hillside. The train will take you to the beach. we were told the trains were unreliable but our experience was fine. We also went by bus to Mount Etna which dominates the Island . We had a good time and had a nice lunch at the Refuge Hotel. There are various ways of accessing the volcano by cable car or tour guide and you can also go into the forest area by quadbike. All of this costs of course. We were just happy to visit
We would recommend the Trattoria Sicilia via Etna which is a brisk 10 minute walk from the b & b. For meat lovers Eusebio across from the Trattoria is meant to be superb but we couldn't read anything on the menu - apologies for our awful Italian. The Colapesce is more expensive but great for fish

Highly recommended

My first place to stay in Italy, couldn't choose any better!
The location is very good, one second away from the M. , 15min walk from the central train station and all the monuments. It is located in a non touristic erea so it is a big bonus if u want to feel local and hear Italian all day.
Also, it is a safe neighbourhood, i was walking alone in the late night and felt safe.
Rooms are really big and comfortable, i had a balcony with beautiful view.
Breakfast is simple, but it has everything u need, coffee, juice, bread, some sweats, fruits....
Biggest bonus is the host, very friendly and willing to help with everything u need :)
Definitely will be back

Lovely place and great location

Good price and quality, clean, small and personal service if needed. Stayed for a week and loved this place. Close to metro station (1 ticket for 90 minutes of metro use, was 1e). Quiet neighbourhood and close to the center of the city :)
Would definitely recommend!

Prenotazione annullata dal gestore

Parecchi giorni dopo aver prenotato per una notte, il gestore mi contatta tramite whatsapp scrivendomi che per motivi personali doveva annullare la mia prenotazione. È la prima volta che mi sono trovata in una situazione simile, un comportamento davvero poco professionale… non posso esprimermi sulla struttura, in quanto non mi è stato possibile metterci piede!

Pulito ma cosi cosi

B&b situato in una via molto secondaria di Catania. Prezzo nella media, ma esagerato il prezzo della colazione che si effettuava metà in hotel e metà in bar convenzionato. In hotel era costituita da caffe e solo per il primo giorno fetta biscottata, al bar si poteva prendere solo cappuccio o brioches piccola oppure caffe e brioches normale. Troppo poco.
Stanza molto pulita. Bagno esterno alla stanza ma privato (era un po' scomodo passare per il corridoio comune per andare in bagno). Self checkin molto utile per chi arriva ad orari fuori dal comune. Facile trovar parcheggio all'esterno del b&b
