Awesomely great place to chill out, relax, with excellent service, clean facilities, good food from the kitchen.
A relatively new hotel run by a friendly couple with small kids. The place is squeegy clean without a hint of mold (which is often a problem in high altitude locations in Indonesia), excellent service by diligent, polite and friendly staff who are out to please, really surprisingly good food for in a small to medium sized family-run hotel. We've stayed here twice now (April 2024 and again this month).
Last year we suggested that Juma provide kayaks, and they were responsive to that idea. How they have a tandem and a single kayak and a paddle board.
Though we were tempted the first time to look at other properties just to know what our options were, we don't need to waste our time with that. We believe we'll keep coming back to Juma.
And, by the way, the view from the lake's edge across the little bay to the north at sunrise provides perhaps the most chill, relaxing and peaceful stress-relieving experiences we've had after living 30+ years in SE Asia. Absolutely terrific.

Great accommodation with lake view & heart!
We spent two nights on our Sumatra tour in July on Samosir in TukTuk. Juma Cottages was not our first choice, but it was the only one we liked and still had free rooms on our travel days.
The small, privately run hotel complex in the east of TukTuk is really great. It has its own jetty and is served directly by the ferry, which makes transporting Parapat very straightforward.
We had a quick and professional exchange with manager Jelita in advance. Plus point for allowing direct WhatsApp contact.
The whole complex is quite new, very clean and well maintained and invites you to relax. The large garden with great views of Lake Toba, the large, new pool with lake view and the nice little restaurant are just a few highlights.
Our 4-bed room was modern and spacious. The beds were comfortable. The bathroom was by Indonesian standards a real "hall" with a good, warm shower. In front of the room there is a covered terrace with table and chairs. So you can retreat comfortably, especially in rain.
We also booked breakfast when we booked. This was really delicious with a large selection. We didn't try dinner this time.
There are things that have nothing to do with business, but with sincere, honest hospitality. Our son unfortunately got sick while we were in TukTuk. He had a fever of just under 40 for two nights. Of course we were very worried.
We would like to thank Juma and Jelita (the owners). They really supported us great, even late at night. They helped us with advice and deeds and drove us in their private car to the very first ferry (from the neighboring town Tomok) at 6am. And all for free! We are really excited about how well the guests are taken care of! Our son was then treated in Medan in hospital and was fortunately fit again just one day later.
We can really only recommend this accommodation. She is very beautiful and modern and just has heart!

A very nice hotel with a nice pool overlooking the lake
The hotel is very nice, very well maintained, the pool with lake and mountain views is beautiful, large and hot and the restaurant and breakfast hearty and delicious.
The staff is very friendly and the room with double bed very large and very clean. The bathroom was also very large and provided with very hot water.
I recommend!!!

Juma Cottage...lake view
A stay with lakeside view and that's about all. There are plenty of cottages along this stretch called Tuk Tuk Siadong. Most of the properties have lake view and some with a swimming pool.
The accommodation is spartan and the saving grace is the big room and the view of the water.
The staff are a receptionist and a room boy and they double up in providing the other services.
Our stay was disturbed by some construction works across the road.

Indonesian family wedding.
Wonderful place, service absolutely brilliant, extremely clean and comfortable room.
All the staff were so lovely and helpful. We had a lovely relaxing time here, thoroughly recommend. Stayed here with my Mother and sister, as traveled to Indonesia for my nephews wedding.
