Perfect farmhouse with an exceptional host!
Nikos was extremely friendly and regularly checked in with us to ensure everything was ok with our stay. He provided fresh fruit and eggs from the farm and some wonderful farm-produced olive oil. We were also free to explore the farm at our leisure.
Having two separate bathrooms was perfect for three adults and Nikos came halfway through our stay to provide fresh towels. The kitchen was also stocked with the essentials needed for preparing breakfast and other meals.
A car is definitely needed - 500m of uneven, stony track to reach the farmhouse. There is a supermarket within a 5 minute drive and numerous restaurants at the nearby resort of Roda (10/15 min drive).
We would definitely recommend staying at Aroggia Farm to others and wouldn’t think twice about staying there again if we were to return to Corfu.

Meet Nikos, a modern day Odysseus
We decided to spend the first week of our month long vacation on Corfu at Aroggia Farm, hoping to replace our supermarket dependent diet with farm fresh vegetables and dairy. And that's precisely what we did - for breakfast at least cause we went out for other meals :). Our breakfast was at least 90% made with things off Niko's farm - Fresh eggs, tomatoes, cucumber, FRESH OLIVE OIL, and more. The rest of the things, like butter, and bread were also local to Corfu, purchased from a nearby shop. Yes, you can taste the difference, but it gets better still because Nikos is essentially trying to save all the heirloom seeds of Corfu and grow only those items. You will not find GMO garbage, or even hybrid varieties grown on Niko's farm if he can find the original heirloom varieties, and he has for nearly everything he grows!
This is why I say Nikos is a modern day Odysseus, he is a man standing up alone - he runs his farm alone, against the great corporate takeover of all our food. Tell me, where else can you find such a thing? Even the sheep he raises are unique to Corfu. I've never seen sheep with such long legs, but if you ask Nikos, he will go into an in-depth history of the breed of sheep on Corfu, how he found the last remaining few, and how he is now raising and breeding them to save them. I mean, honestly, the passion this man has for his land, for his island is indescribable, and to see and experience such a thing was the crowning jewel of our whole trip. I go into all this detail simply to explain to you, that staying here and seeing this operation is the difference between staying at a nice hotel that you will forget, vs. staying somewhere that will let you see and experience things that are virtually impossible to find in this day and age. Truly exceptional.
Now on to the houses themselves. They are clean, they are spacious, they are well appointed. The beds are comfy, the wifi is fast. Literally I could find no problem with them. Nikos himself, besides what I said above, is an exceptional host who will take care to make sure you have what you need for your stay. He even taught us how to open/close the shutters of the house during the times of day so that we can have a nice cool house in the evening. We were there in August, and it worked, because we didn't need to run the AC at all - what a delight to sleep with the windows open and hear the crickets and grasshoppers at night and breathe the fresh country air. Lastly, when I had a flat tire on my rental, he took the flat tire to a local shop and had it fixed for us - we were free to enjoy the rest of the day without yet another hassle!
Location - The houses are fairly centrally located in the northern part of the island. This means you are not close to the beaches, so you need a car, BUT you are very conveniently located to hit nearly every single beach and attraction in the northern part of the island within a 20 min drive. In the height of summer this meant we were easily able to pick and choose where we wanted to go without concern for distance and time, and even found beaches we had totally to ourselves! Do be aware that the last little road to the farm is unpaved, but for our little Peugeot 207 this was no problem.
Restaurants - Again, you need a car, and then you can go wherever you want to the multitude of places/beaches within a 20 min drive so it's not an issue. However, I do want to mention a restaurant that Nikos recommended to us - O Prasinos in Nimfes. Truly, truly exceptional place, very close by, and one of the best of our whole trip. Imagine going to a little town in the mountains, the restaurant is set on the town square, the whole village gathers round it in the evenings to eat and socialize. Then right beside the restaurant there's a natural fresh water spring with absolutely divine water. We brought bottles when we came back to stock up on this water. The food at the restaurant was home made in style, but exceptionally well flavoured, and 4 people ate their fill, with drinks, for the princely sum of 47 euro. No, that is not a typo. Thank you Nikos for this recommendation.
We were so impressed by Nikos and his dedication to save local plant and animal species that when our parents joined us from Sweden later in the trip, we took them back to see him. At first, he was nowhere to be found. We searched everywhere and had almost given up when we heard a burst of baritone vocals coming from his kitchen. We found him dancing and singing to himself as he cooked dinner. We have never seen a happier man on our travels. And certainly not one who has dedicated his life to protecting as much of the incredible heritage and natural resources of his birthplace as humanly possible. He is a true force of nature! If you ever go to Corfu, stay at Aroggia farm not just to embrace the natural beauty of Corfu from the comfort of one of Nikos’s delightful cottages, but to meet the man himself! Trust me, this place is like nothing else.
