Perfect stay ›

Beautiful place to stay, especially the view of the sea from the terrace & balcony is beautiful.
In addition, the breakfast was great, it was a rich breakfast: coffee, tea, juice, an omelette and more. I will definitely go there again. Definitely recommended to go here!!

Heaven on Earth

If you would like a truly Cretan experience, look no further than Villa Kapasa. The views are breathtaking. The location is isolated up in a mountain, yet a quick 10 minute drive to the beach or lake and nearby Giorgioupolis with many shops, tavernes etc. I have stayed here multiple times as well as many other hotels in Crete and there is really no comparison. The owners Andrea and Argyro are extremely accommodating and make you feel at home. They are amazing cooks and offer all homemade organic meals from their own land including their own homemade wine, olive oil, herbs, fruits, vegetables, eggs from their own chickens, and on and on and on. This is a truly unique experience offered nowhere else on the island. I have never had better sleep in my life. Best vacation ever! I cannot wait to go back next summer. I have sent many patients of mine there and all have had similar experiences. Highly recommend to all.

Best place to stay in Crete

I was there 20 years ago and loved it then. I still love it now. Even though a lot has changed in the surroundings the Villa Kapasa is still what it used to be: A home for travellers. Andreas and his wife are very nice and affectionnate hosts, sitting and talking with their guests in the evening. Dinner is offered if desired and smelled always terrific. Unfortunately my kids were too picky to stay for dinner. Maybe next time. Good breakfast with very good cake and fresh fruit. The room was big enough for the 3 of us and there was enough room to store the clothing. It was very clean and always ready after breakfast. The whole place is full of flowers. Nice view of the sea, Georgioupolis and the mountains. Good place to stay for trips to Chania, Rethimnon, the mountains, Imbros Gorge and Samaria gorge and many others.

An unforgettable experience of Crete

What makes this place is the people who own and run it - Andreas, Argirou and their son Spiros. They rebuilt it, they have an interesting background, they engage with their guests and they do everything they can to encourage a convivial atmosphere (with a bit of edge!)
We booked bed and breakfast only, not wanting to be trapped into eating supper there every night...but we ended up eating supper there every night but one, on the lovely terrace, because the food was so good - varied, always delicious, copious. Argirou was able to cope with my near-vegetarian other half, who won't eat fish, as well as carnivorous me, who loves every kind of seafood. Conversations with Andreas, Argirou and the guests, oiled by home-made wine and tsikoudia, lasted to midnight and beyond. The wine is rather an acquired taste (which we did acquire), the tsikoudia was the best I've had.
Breakfast omelettes are by Andreas. Delicious, especially under the mulberry trees and vines shading the terrace.
The views are spectacular. The villa is about half an hour's walk from the sea front in the agreeable town of Georgiopoulos, and about the same to delightful lake Kournas. You can drive from there to the fine beaches on the west and south coasts of Crete (if you don't mind high, narrow mountain roads!), or just chill on the good beaches near Georgiopoulos itself.
Don't forget to stock up on Andreas's olive oil before you leave.
