The perfect yoga retreat

I would describe my stay at the hotel while partaking in a yoga retreat as Authentic , calm , and friendly. Interiors were elegant and sympathetic to the period and spirit of the hotel . The staff were helpful ,kind and multi talented , providing food that was light , healthy beautifully presented , using fresh regional produce . Marta’s Paella was to die for delicious! The views and vistas were spectacular and the gardens beautifully planted and maintained . The yoga studio is superbly equipped , light and airy overlooking the sea . All conducive to clearing the mind and bringing an alertness to the body ! Simon is a gifted and insightful yoga teacher . His knowledge of how the body works is only matched by his imaginative use of language that enables you to connect to that part of the body you need to reach . He enables you to stretch your body , mind and fills you with the spirit of what good yoga practise should be . It is a perfect blend of location and activity . I cannot recommend it highly enough and will defiantly return .

Disappointing

Do not be fooled by the charming images on their website or the rural 4 star catagory. Attending a yoga retreat for the first time, I was excited, however I was very disappointed by the lack of care and attention to detail by the owners/managers. Fortunately the yoga teacher who was hired in for the week (not associated with the hotel) was excellent. Some Beds were not made or many rooms not cleaned, aircon did not work in a lot of rooms. Pool was filthy, rotten fruit left around poolside therefore attracting wasps and stinging guests. Food basic and unimaginative and poorly presented. A great shame as it is a great location, but unfortunately no repeat visit from me

Spectacular Retreat Venue

My 2nd visit to Santillan. Spectacular yoga shala, fabulous gardens, delicious and plentiful Spanish home cooking are the 3 highlights. Rooms are perfectly adequate for a retreat, internet signal good in the gardens and public areas, although not in the bedooms - but this gives a welcome break from the screen. Wonderful relaxing atmosphere - I will definitely go back again

Peaceful, serene and beautiful destination for a Yoga Retreat

We attended a yoga retreat (teacher Simon Low) at the hotel for 7 days and were spoilt by the peaceful environment, hospitality and the food served at every meal.
The rooms were big, airy and comfortable. The yoga studio is so peaceful and well equipped.
We were served delicious healthy meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner using always the freshest of local ingredients and herbs and fruits from the Hotel's own garden.
There are always tea/coffee making facilities available at every floor of the hotel.
Plenty of nature walks nearby which is wonderful during breaks from yoga.
My husband and I felt so comfortable and peaceful that we hardly ventured out of the hotel. When we were not doing yoga, we were either chilling out at the pool, reading in the library or pampering ourselves with the various therapeutic treatments available.

Very good location
