Awesome place to stay--beautiful, friendly, great, great food

We had a wonderful stay here during the first two days of the San Fermines. The setting is idyllic and well worth the drive. Just make sure you look out for the many cyclists going up and down the mountain. Manolo is a wealth of information and advised us to not drive into Pamplona but to drive to a town nearby and take the bus--so much easier for us to get in and around and leave when we needed to. Breakfast is included and is sumptuous and abundant. We had dinner a couple of nights also and were overwhelmed with the quantity and quality of the food. This is not your typical hotel/hostal fare; I'd bet there's a Michelin star in Manolo's future.

Very good rural stay

Set in amongst woodland this is a rural hotel and a car or a bike are needed. However the surrounding countryside is beautiful and it is handy for driving to Pamplona. The room we stayed in was good but the star is Manuel...nothing is too much trouble and he cooks a lovely meal. First class host.

Delightful Place

After a long day of hiking from Elizondo, this Hostal was a welcome treat. The rooms were quaint, the common area and bar quite nice and the food quite good. Everything was very reasonably priced and we slept exceptionally well with the sound of the river running below us. Breakfast was a delight. Not only was there the usual croissants, bread, chorizo and cheese but in addition there was fruit, yogurt and a spanish omelette plus tomatoes ( a Catalan touch) as owner is from Barcelona. We were able to purchase bread from the owner for the next day's hike as where this Hostal is located is 13 kilometers from a store. Trip advisor has it listed in Eugi, Pamplona but it is actually perched on a hillside 1o minutes or so from Puerto de Urkiaga. While Egui is a nearby town, Pamplona is not being 35 kilometers or so away. Perfect place for travelers having completed the 3rd stage of the GR 11 running east. The Hostal will also come pick you up at the trailhead if notified ahead of time. But be warned that this Hostal is often booked full so plan ahead as there are only 5 rooms.

Wonderful place!

One of our favorite places we stayed at on our trip. The staff was great, the food was yummy, and our room was so nice. We stayed here and drove about 30 min into Pamplona for Running of the Bulls. This hotel was so nice and quiet, and the scenery around was so beautiful. We really enjoyed exploring the ruins down the road. Nothing bad to say!!
