Human warmth: 10/10!

Irma, the owner, is the kindest and most helpful woman there is!! Some beautiful vibes. And also, the beds are the most comfortable there is. Perfect place! Human warmth at its maximum splendor. Breakfast is like eating at your grandmother's house, it makes you feel super comfortable!

Our Home Away From Home

We made Casa de Marmiol our base in Riobamba for two weeks whilst doing the Laguna Amarilla trek and climbing Chimborazo and I can barely put into words how welcome we were made feel by Irma and her family!
The hostel is meticulously clean with great comfy beds, an excellent shared bathroom (with the best shower we've had in 15 weeks in South America), a roof terrace and a big tv/ lounge room. Irma and her son Sebastian speak excellent English.
Want to know the best place to get your laundry done? Good quality restaurant/ food delivery? Need a cheap taxi? A place to eat in the neighbouring towns? A guide for Chimbo? Help with permits for Laguna Amarilla? Irma had a guy! She was able to sort anything and everything!
We had a fantastic breakfast every morning and she provided free luggage storage whilst we headed off on each trip, with us coming back to our same room, prepared early and bags waiting both times.
The whole family made everyone so welcome and it created an atmosphere where guests ate meals together and got to know each other and we got to meet some amazing new people.
We can't thank Irma, Diego, Sebastian, Karlita and Emma enough and if we are ever back in the area we'd have no hesitation in returning to our 'Riobamba Family'.

The best night of sleep we had!

What a fabulous stay we had. The bedding is simply AMAZING - they have the most comfortable sheets we have ever had (kind of a soft fleece - never seen this before in a hotel). This night was the least expensive of our trip in Ecuador and the one that allowed us to sleep the best. Also the view from the rooftop is amazing.
And of course the hosts are amazingly welcoming - we had such a warm welcome when we arrived by Irma and Diego. Irma is a fabulous host making you at ease from the first minute. The breakfast was very good and they gave us a lot of useful infos regarding the rest of our trip as well. We would definitely come back to this hotel.

Great rooms for cheap prices!

Our rooms were very clean. We had a very good experience with Irma. She is very friendly and gave us very good recommendations for activities. Her breakfast is very delicious (flexible time choosable). The wifi was also good.

Generous hosts, great facility near wild highcountry.

Irma & Diego are kind and generous souls who took the time to welcome us and share their city with us. They went out of there way o. Several occasions to ensure we were well cared for and comftable. Their son Sebastion came along on a city tour and helped translate for us as our Spanish skills are very limited. We enjoyed a fantastic horse back ride along the base of Chimbarosa with Alex Azas and his friend Moses who were kind enough to take us by their home and introduce us to their famiky, a highlight of our trip to meet these kind people and ride through the vast terrain.
