Beautiful fire inside and firewood provided. Friendly doggies that played with ours all the time and they even took us for a walk to the waterfalls. Amazing walking tracks around the property. We had such a nice stay with a comfy bed.

This was our second time staying at Bellthorpe Stays and it certainly won't be our last.
Cosy cabin, extremely clean, with everything you could need to be comfortable, including wood for the fire and bird seed.
Loved the peace and quiet, fresh air, wildlife and plenty of options for long or short walks. Our 14 year old dog, Kaiser, loved exploring and meeting Dodge and Puku.
This is the perfect pet friendly place to chill and unwind.

A re-wilding miracle
We spent 4 wonderful days at Bellthorpe Cottages, soaking in the beautiful surrounds and close encounters with multiple birds. It is an oasis of peace and beauty created by Wendy and David.
The cottage was cosy, comfortable and spotlessly clean. The well equipped cottage allowed us to stay most of the time on the large, lush property, teeming with wildlife. We sat on the deck a lot of the time and were entertained by the beautiful birds that visited for a feed and chatter. David and Wendy dropped by to check we had everything and to answer questions about the different wildlife and trees we had seen. They are excellent hosts and so knowledgeable. It was great to learn more about how they transformed the de-nuded grasslands, stripped of all trees, into a safe haven for wildlife, a few species unique and some nearly extinct. An unforgettable experience was frog spotting with David who identified the different species through their croaks. All those eyes glittering at you when walking at night, it was lovely. The land was stripped when they purchased the property more than 20 years ago. They’ve planted thousands of trees, it really is a laudable achievement. We highly recommend the cottages and thank Wendy and David for a wonderful time.
