My 3rd time here not a coincidence Incredible experience from room with balcony o all amenities (eg capsule coffee machine, safe etc) and wonderful view to a breakfast that has everything including amazing service oriented staff as throughout the hotel including staff service room, breakfast, reception

Central but let down by a poor room
My two-night stay at Thon Hotel Harstad in April 2026 left me with mixed feelings. The central location is convenient for a work trip, but it has been a long time since I stayed in such a cold and uncomfortable hotel room, and that overshadowed much of the experience.
I stayed in room 219, a small single room that was freezing when I arrived late in the evening. It was so cold that I had to sleep in a wool jumper on the first night. There was no wall thermostat, and only the next day did I discover a simple switch on the radiator that turned on the heat, though without any real temperature control. The bed was the main problem: just about 80 cm wide and not placed against a wall, which made it feel even less comfortable. As shown in my photo of the room, it was not a setup that encouraged good sleep, and I slept poorly.
The bathroom also felt tired, with cracked tiles on the wall and visible limescale in the shower area. Housekeeping, however, was perfectly acceptable. My room faced the sea and had large windows, but the view was not especially interesting, and there was some noise. I appreciated having a minibar and kettle, though there was no coffee machine.
Service was functional rather than warm. Check-in was straightforward, but there was little beyond the minimum. At check-out, I was asked to pay for minibar items I had not even opened, which was disappointing. Breakfast was simple but adequate, with the essentials rather than anything memorable. The lobby was small with limited seating, though the direct access to the Egon restaurant was a practical advantage.
What could be improved
- Single rooms should not be fitted with beds as narrow as 80 cm.
- Heating controls need to be clearer and more effective.
I would only return if I were sure of getting a better room, ideally with a wider bed and a higher floor facing the sea.
If you go
• If you book a single room, ask specifically for a bed at least 120 cm wide.
• Request a higher-floor room facing the sea for a better outlook.
• Do not rely on hotel parking; be prepared for expensive public parking nearby.

I would gladly return
I had not read good reviews and instead I liked it a lot. Beautiful velvet armchairs, very spacious room, spacious and well-organized bathroom, quiet, excellent varied and abundant breakfast.

Great city hotel
We stayed in this hotel for one night. The room is a bit smaller than at the Thon Hotel Svolvær. The beds are comfortable and everything was clean. The breakfast buffet offers a large selection.

Could be better
Did not receive confirmation by email when ordering, called several times to get it forwarded. When I got it, there was no baby bed and I called in to point out that it must be in place. When we arrive on arrival day there is no crib, say in from in the reception and the bed comes. A lot of rules that could have been avoided, in addition to the 10,500,- I paid for the room I had to pay with 300,- extra for a baby bed. The room was filthy when we arrived, warm and sealed and airing impossible due to noise from the road in daytime and issue nighttime. The room was equipped with exterior sunshine, these lived their own life and went up and down as it suited itself all day. The refrigerator didn't work, so we couldn't keep food for the baby cold. Otherwise the room was large enough and well equipped bathroom, good bed with delicious duvets. The breakfast was great, but missed something sweet like the croissant.
