To slow down
We felt very comfortable here and could relax perfectly.
The location right on Lake Eutin is wonderful. It is quiet, although the nice old town is just a few minutes walk away.
The rooms are designed in pure Nordic style - so the eye can relax.
We had a room with lake view; the additional fee is worth it.
I really like the idea of inclusion! Maybe it takes a little longer at breakfast, but then I just enjoyed the lake view a little longer.

Absolutely terrible
I had initially heard good things about the sea lodge in Eutin – especially about food – and therefore wanted to plan a Christmas party for my ward with around 22 nurses in December. On the phone I was told that a reservation was basically no problem, but this would only be possible via a separate room. Afterwards, I was asked if I wanted to pre-determine a menu selection to make the evening process work smoothly, or if we would rather have a buffet selection. That sounded very positive at first.
Unfortunately, I only received an email with the estimate after one and a half to two weeks, which really shocked us:
250 € room rent, additional costs for table decoration, fabric napkins, technology etc. We just wanted to reserve a few tables and eat in a cozy round – not an event with special equipment. The fact that we wanted to be charged money for a room we never actively asked for was an absolute rip-off.
My opinion is: If you cannot offer normal tables for a group of this size, then you should clearly communicate that you have no capacity for a celebration with so many people. Instead, it seems as if you are desperate to make money – but not via the actual performance, but via a room that is basically equipped with only a white tablecloth and a few candles. For me, it's absolutely incomprehensible how you want to cash in like this. This procedure seems to me like pure greed for money.
Communication was also extremely tedious. My e-mails did not arrive, and I had to ask several times by phone. But even reaching someone by phone was very difficult. In between, I was told that Mrs. Haack (responsible person) was not there for several days – which further extended the waiting time and we could hardly look for alternatives during this time. Overall, it was very frustrating for us.
In retrospect, it was even claimed that I had already been told the 250 € room rent on the phone – that is definitely not true. Had I known, I would have immediately switched to one of the other restaurants that also had capacity.
For me, the procedure seems cheeky, unnecessarily complicated and absolutely not customer-oriented. Moreover, it must be made very clear that all these hidden additional costs, which you will only learn later, are more than outrageous. Clearly not recommended for reservations with multiple people.

Overnight stay on the asparagus trip
New modern hotel, wood and concrete.
We had a drink in the sun on the nice terrace facing the lake. Fun, new drinks.
Room nice, clean and tidy.
Staff attire was questionable. Only the man at the reception was nicely dressed. The others I didn't know it was staff until they came with their toad and wanted to take order.
In such a nice hotel I think it should be uniform dress, nice pants and a nice shirt. Not half-hanging pants and wrinkled shirts. Something for the boss to fix!
The restaurant was like that. We wanted to eat asparagus with hard butter. No, I couldn't. Then we had to pay € 3.50 extra. It was served with hollandaise or sheer butter, if what you were served was not enough you had to pay € 4.50 extra. You couldn't get half a portion either, which we could at Hotel Seestern in Heiligenhafen.
Breakfast was like that.

No goodwill
Unfortunately, the hotel is not very cooperative and is also too expensive for the offer. A cancelled room from last year was not counted because time had run out and it was supposedly the peak season. It's a shame. Destroy the otherwise good impression.

Overwhelmed service personnel
After our not so positive experience regarding afternoons. Had we reserved a table for 5 people for dinner for the performance at the Eutin Festival.
If we showed up on time, we were welcomed friendly by the service employee. Even when ordering drinks, he seemed overwhelmed. We wanted to order beer with the bottle of water. Were with the remark: The kitchen rang, that's where I have to go. I'll be right back. At 5:45 p.m., he had unfortunately still not returned to our table. One of the passengers then went to the service worker. When he came, we asked if the kitchen would be able to finish the meal by 6:00 p.m. Which he could not say yes to in the form. Then we got up and paid for the water and left. We also pointed out that it would be too stressful to order the food now and then consume it in a reasonable time. After the afternoon coffee - without cake!, since not available the second negative experience that day. The only positive was that the Sevicekraft was friendly and polite, but seem completely overwhelmed, even though we were the only guests at the restaurant at that time.
Then it continued in the evening after the performance at the bar, which closed at 23:00 according to the hotel description. There were of course many guests at the bar after the performance who would have liked to order and drink a drink besides us. There, too, the two employees present seemed overwhelmed, although many guests would want to order at once, especially at the Opera Festival. So: Shouldn't be an extraordinary situation.
Even considering that there is a shortage of staff everywhere, the situation was incomprehensible for us and other guests. What a shame!
